With heavy hearts, we are letting everyone know that Carolyn Snyder passed away early Thursday, June 18th at home. We are hoping that she is now pain free and enjoying time with her husband Richard.

Carolyn A Snyder, 83, of Weyerhaeuser, died Thursday, June 18, 2026 at her home.
Carolyn was born October 26, 1942 in St. Paul, MN and raised on a dairy farm in Scandia, MN. Carolyn married Richard and then moved to Weyerhaeuser, WI to raise registered Holsteins under the prefix Star Valley Farm. They raised two daughters, a son, and two granddaughters. The family enjoyed cattle showing and 4-H activities throughout the summers.
Encouraged by a dear friend in the field, Carolyn spent 20 years working as a seasonal tax preparer before she decided to branch out on her own in 2009. Snyder Tax Service was launched in Ladysmith, WI, and Carolyn earned the title of Enrolled Agent – a federally recognized tax practitioner who earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the IRS. Carolyn owned and operated Snyder Tax Service until her passing. It was her dream to keep Snyder Tax Service within the family, and her granddaughter – also an Enrolled Agent – will continue its legacy.
Carolyn was a wonderful person – never refusing to help anyone. She loved her family immensely. She was well known for her ability to suddenly be starving as soon as the car turned on. She was a terrible secret keeper, but loved to talk with people. She spent countless years supporting and participating in agencies like Habitat for Humanity, 4-H, and the Rusk County Community Foundation. Carolyn’s knowledge, leadership, and personality will be greatly missed.
Carolyn is survived by her three children: Shelly of Durand, Rick (Carry) of Weyerhaeuser, and Betsy of Ladysmith; eight grandchildren: Amanda (Jason), Deanna (Tyler), Evan (Sam), Geoffrey (Chuck), Lexi (Matt), Caitlyn (Luke), Jennifer, and David (Taylor); eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings: Bill (Beth), Mary (Wayne), Richard (Karla), Jim (Edie), Art (Denise), and Doug; sister-in-law: Marge.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Adelaide, infant son David, brother Kenny, husband Richard, and sister-in-law Laura.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 from 4:00 -8:00 pm at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith to welcome friends, family, and guests. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
